About

Artist Communications Agency (ACA) was founded in 2023 by Stewart Campbell. Stewart is a Los Angeles-based strategic communications advisor specializing in public relations for visual artists and artist-run organizations. With 15 years of experience, he brings a precise and research-driven approach to helping artists sharpen the stories they tell about themselves and their work through marketing and communications. With his expertise in press, media relations, and storytelling, he creates comprehensive and holistic strategies that help artists build lasting art-historical legacies.

Prior to founding the Artist Communications Agency, Stewart served as an Associate Director at Hauser & Wirth, working directly with an internationally recognized artist to develop and execute communications strategies that reframed critical interpretations of their work. He implemented this through well-managed relationships with press and media as well as institutional partnerships and collaborative relationships across internal teams — including Sales, Research, Education, Marketing and Communications, and Curatorial.

From 2008-2018, Stewart served in various roles at arts organizations throughout New York City including Bureau, Inc., the International Center of Photography, and Issue Project Room. During the day, he managed internal communications on the Global Diversity & Inclusion team at Interpublic Group, a publicly traded Fortune 500 company with over 19,000 US employees.

Stewart received his Master of Arts in Critical and Curatorial Studies from Columbia University in 2010 where he wrote his thesis on Krzysztof Wodiczko’s "Immigrant Instruments" under Dr. Noam Elcott. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the College of Wooster in 2007.
